Minimalism

Summer 2014

Well my friends, it seems that my journey with minimalism has ended. I went a full month only wearing these clothes and it has been a difficult yet refreshing experience. I learned to be creative with my clothing and that I can live with only a few pieces and still be chic and stylish. Before, I would stare into my closet full of clothing and walk out thinking I have nothing to wear. But now I feel like I have a completely different closet with so many options.

I hope that you all have learned some things as well, and I hope I have inspired you to challenge yourself with your clothing.

On the other hand, I am very excited to go into the next chapter of my blog. I will not be doing another minimalist challenge any time soon, although I do plan to do another one in the future. I have some very exciting things in store, so be prepared to see my blog go to another level!

One Piece, Four Outfits

Summer 2014

The minimalist challenge I have decided to take has gone surprisingly well. So far, I have learned to be creative with the things that I wear, and I have had a lot of fun doing so. Today I decided to collage together four of the outfits I put together using the same top so you can all see how you too can put together multiple outfits using the same piece. Whether it’s dressy or casual, a simple piece can go a long way.

I have many more outfits to go and I hope you all keep reading my blog and continue to be inspired by the clothes I style.

Dress it up

Summer 2014

I am one of those odd people that feel more comfortable being over dressed than wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt. I tend to dress anything up, even when I’m just hanging out. During the school year, I always got comments from my classmates asking how I have the time everyday to dress up. It actually doesn’t take me any longer than it would for me to throw on jeans and a tee. The key is to wear simple pieces with a big statement.

Yesterday I piddled around the mall and decided to pop into this vintage candy store called Lolli & Pops. Totally in love with the overpriced candy and the retro decorations (and uniforms). For a day of shopping, I always wear a dress. It is the easiest thing to change out of if I need to try on clothes, and it’s basically an outfit all in one. I decided to wear my maxi dress with my strappy black tank over and knotted on the side. To dress it up even more I added a statement necklace and my black clutch. Such a simple outfit, yet enough to make it look like I put a lot of effort into it.

Dressing up a bit doesn’t take a lot. You can still be comfortable and ready to take on the day.

Red, White, and Blue

Summer 2014

The wonderful colors of America! Today is Independence Day, which is one of my favorite holidays. I love everything about it- fireworks, barbecue, tacky flag-printed clothing. It really is a great day. So of course, I had to show my American Pride, but in a classy way.

Since I’m spending my holiday outside, barbecuing and popping fireworks, I went for something super casual. I’m wearing a comfy, loose-fitting navy and white striped tee and a pair of jean shorts that peek out a little at the bottom. I added a pair of strappy white sandals and a silver statement necklace to dress it up a bit. For some color, I am wearing my neon yellow bag and, of course, my nails are painted red.

You could wear this outfit when you’re celebrating with your family, but of course you can wear it any other day! It’s great for those days when you’re out running errands, or for a day at the amusement park. You can still be classy when dressing casual.

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Independence Day!
